Description
The O'Tom Tick Twister is a chemical free tick removal hook and is a great tool to remove ticks from dogs, other animals and even humans. This tool allows painless, quick, and complete removal of ticks from the skin. It is easier to use than tick tweezers. The hook uses a slit and rotation system to remove the tick within seconds and during the process there is no pressure on the tick’s body or any risk of leaving it’s rostrum attached, both of which can lead to bacteria being injected into the skin and the transfer of diseases such as Lyme disease or Babesia. A perfect and handy tool to have at home or when you are out and about. Additional Information
- Simple and safe removal of any size of ticks.
- Designed by a veterinarian and favoured by professionals.
- A slit and rotation method helps to remove the tick’s rostrum (the part that embeds into the skin and often incorrectly referred to as “the ticks head”) which is covered in backward pointing spikes enabling it to anchor itself in the skin. If you were to use twisters to pull up on the tick it would result in the spikes rising and locking the rostrum in the skin. It could result in the tick breaking off and leaving parts in the skin which in turn could lead to an infection or painful inflammation. However by using the hook, the twisting action results in the spikes bending into the axis of rotation and decreases the risk of breaking the rostrum.
- The hooks are made from injected plastic which is recyclable. They are re-useable, hardwearing and virtually unbreakable. They can be cleaned with standard disinfectants and even put in the dishwasher!
- Pack contains 2 tick hooks - 1 x for small ticks and 1 x for larger ticks.
- How to use: Simply slide the hook around the tick. Rotate the hook approximately 2-3 times using a slight upward motion until the tick detaches from the skin.
- Please note colours may vary from the image.
- The rostrum of the tick should be cleanly removed along with the rest of its body.
- The body of the tick must not be compressed.
- The tick should not be stressed or injured, because this can cause it to inject into the skin, its blood meal along with any infective organisms, which can lead to infections and/or allegies.
- The tick should be removed without causing the host any discomfort.
